Diabat
Essaouira
Bohemian village, artistic soulAbout Diabat
Diabat is a small wind-swept village roughly three kilometers south of Essaouira's medina, between sand dunes and the ruins of Dar Soltane palace. The village gained fame when Jimi Hendrix visited in the late 1960s. Today it attracts a community of artists and creatives.
Real estate is rustic and affordable compared to Essaouira proper. Traditional stone houses and occasional building plots are available. Several Europeans have restored old houses into vacation retreats.
Access is via a single road from Essaouira with no public transport. Buyers should expect basic infrastructure but a uniquely atmospheric coastal setting.
